Former CIA agent launches anti-Trump campaign for President

By Stephen Johnson Former CIA agent Evan McMullin this week launched an independent campaign for the White House, hoping to attract support from Republican voters who are not comfortable with the party’s nominee, Donald Trump. Mr. McMullin has been a vocal critic of Mr. Trump, labeling him as an “authoritarian” and criticizing the real estate billionaire for refusing to release his tax returns.

Rural affairs deserves full ministry – councillor

DUNMANWAY based independent county councillor Declan Hurley has welcomed the appointment of Ann Phelan TD as Minister of State at the Departments of Agriculture, Food and Marine and Transport, Tourism and Sport with Special Responsibility for Rural Economic Development.   According to Cllr Hurley, the new post will be based at the Department of Agriculture and includes the implementation of the CEDRA report and rural transport.

Independents should get funding too

INDEPENDENT candidates in local and European elections should be given State funding towards election expenses like thise representing political parties, that’s according to Bandon / Kinsale non-party candidate Denis Boyle.   “I’m hearting on the doorsteps that people want ‘anyone but’ the established parties but it is those candidates who are given an unfair advantage in the campaign through funding,” said Mr Boyle.
