Ahakista festival to support Melissa Rennings fund

LOCAL man Jonas Rennings of Tralibane, Bantry, relocated to Cairns Australia in 2010 with his wife Melissa and two young children.   In the week before Christmas 2011, Melissa went to the doctor, and shortly afterwards was diagnosed with breast cancer.   She started chemotherapy immediately, followed by radiation.

Cork Craft Month to showcase the best in West Cork craft

It’s playtime in Ballineen and Enniskeane

Masters of Tradition festival welcomes the Voice Squad

Random Acts of Kindess in Clon

THE Random Acts of Kindness Festival, which is fun, free and for all ages returns to Clonakilty on 19th-21st July, celebrating, encouraging and showcasing the kindness, positive spirit and welcoming nature of west Cork and it’s people. Huge crowds in Courtmac for the All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships

AN estimated 15,000 people thronged Courtmacsherry and Timoleague over the weekend for the All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships which took place in Broadstrand Bay.     It turned out to be a very successful event for rowing clubs from across West Cork too with GalleyFlash taking the senior men’s title and Myross taking the best adult crew accolade.

Big crowds for Ballabuidhe 2012

THE annual Ballabuidhe festival drew big crowds to Dunmanway once again this year where more than 300 horses competed for €40,000 in prize money, cups and trophies. The biggest crowds attended on the Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday of the four-day festival that ran from August 6th – 8th.
