THE bunting is out the tournament is starting and the sense of anticipation is palpable across West Cork as the Boys in Green embark on their first euro campaign since 1988. Bars, businesses and homes acorss West Cork are proudly displaying the green, white and gold and hoping that the Irish team can pull a few surprises in Poland and the Ukraine.
WITH the hype building and Ireland’s opening game against Croatia on June 10th only a few short days away, the sense of anticipation is palpable. Supporters across West Cork and Ireland will be hoping that Trap’s boys can do the business after Ireland following Ireland’s first euro qualification in 24years.

There were many positives to crow about in this display, not least being the overall tightness of the Irish defence, and again, the clear message sent by Shane Long to the management for more regular inclusion in the starting line-up.

Last Saturday, in Munich, as the Pensioners walked out into a thronged Allianz Stadium, a large red message was unveiled at one end of the arena by the thousands of Bayern Munich fans, declaring, in German of course, and in capital letters, the words, “Our City, Our Stadium, Our Cup!”
