Easter Camp 2016 is a huge success! Over seventy children took part in the club’s annual Easter Camp in Rossmore. They enjoyed three days of hurling and football fun, under the expert guidance of coaches James Desmond, Paudie Crowley and Shane O’Donovan. The Easter commemoration in Bandon takes place on Easter Sunday the 20th of April in St Patrick’s Cemetery at 12.30 and will be addressed by Martin Ferris TD. The annual event organised by Sinn Féin is always well attended and a big crowd is again expected this year. Dunmanway Library’s Knit and Natter group have created a pretty and unique hand-crafted celebration of Spring. The group which is led by library staff member Aine O’Brien have knitted, crocheted, and created from lace a Springtime Tea Party. This entirely calorie free feast of cakes and confections has to be seen to be believed.
THERE was great egg-citement in Reenascreena recently as RTE paid the local national school a visit to check out the new Easter chicks hatched thanks to the school’s “electric hen”. THE 1916 Rising was remembered by the Clonakilty Easter Commemoration Committee on Easter Sunday. Despite torrential rainfall, and part of Asna Square being inaccessible due to ongoing works, a large crowd turned out.
THE freezing winds and heavy rain could not deter the large crowd who gathered for the Annual Bandon Easter commemoration which took place at the republican plot in St Patrick’s cemetery on Sunday last. IN a first display of its kind in West Cork, one shop in Skibbereen has gone that little bit extra to bring the Easter season to life with the first ever live Easter window display.
THERE was a large turnout in Bandon on Easter Sunday to hear Gerry Adams TD deliver the oration in St Patrick’s Cemetery on the 96th anniversary of the 1916 Rising. More than 400 people were in attendance to listen to the Sinn Fein President and to honour those who fought in the rising at the republican plot in the local graveyard.
SINN Féin President and Louth TD Gerry Adams will be the main speaker at the annual Easter commemoration in Bandon on Easter Sunday. The commemoration takes place at 12.30pm in St Patrick’s Cemetery and a large attendance is expected from across West Cork.
