Cork City 1 Shamrock Rovers 2

By Owen Thornhill A disappointing week for Cork City losing to Shamrock Rovers at home for the first time in 10 years after being dumped out of the cup by the same team the previous Friday night. City did start brightly though with Ian Turner getting the opening goal with good build up play from Keigan Parker, Daryl Horgan and of course Ian Turner.

The home side levelled 10 minutes later, as a free kick into the box was headed home past Kevin Burns. There were only a few more half chances in the first half but neither keeper was seriously threatened.

The result was a 2-2 draw with Dan Murray and Shane O’Connor getting Cork City’s goals while City old boy Denis Behan, and Shane Tracy getting Limerick’s goals. Limerick will be a very strong Division One team and big favourites to win the division. Cork won’t
