THE Naval Service has intercepted a yacht 200 miles off the West Cork coast, believed to have on board the biggest drugs haul since Dances with Waves was detained in 2008. A massive international operation swung into operation to detain the 18 metre yacht Makayabella which is understood to have at least a metric tonne of cocaine aboard valued at €80m.
AS part of on-going operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Bandon area gardaí have made a significant seizure of cannabis herb in the Bandon area. Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drug Unit assisted by uniformed officers carried out a search of premises in the Templemartin area of Bandon at approximately 10am on July 3rd.
A 30-year-old Drimoleague man has been remanded on bail for one month on six separate arson charges. Sean Byrne, from Bohernabreegha was charged at Clonakilty District Court with the offences that occurred in March last year and in the early hours of January 21st this year.
