Our Minor Hurlers were no match for a much faster and slicker Douglas selection in their Round 1 Premier 1 Minor Hurling Championship at Ballinhassig last Sunday that ended 05-15 to 02-12.
Daithi O’Donovan had us in front after a minute but after that Douglas dominated proceedings for a long period.
They led by five points after six minutes and had their opening goal soon after by the impressive corner-forward Mark Dolan.
Bandon battled hard mid-way through the half and as well as keeping the victors scoreless for 10 minutes, put over four points of their own through Michael Beechor, Eoin Ryan and two frees by the impressive Michael Cahalane long since moved to the forty.
However, Douglas were soon back in the groove and scored another 3 – 1 before half time to leave the score at 4 – 6 to 0-8.
Michael Cahalane scored three un-answered points upon the resumption and he was well supported by Matthew McNamara and the first half substitute Oisin Healy for long periods of the second half and the latter did record two late goals.
Douglas totally dominated that second period and were so comfortable that they could afford to record 10 wides.
Bandon are much better than this performance and must put in a big effort to have any chance for their Round 2 meeting with Midleton.

Fixtures: Next Sunday evening in Clonakilty our Junior A Footballers face Kilbriittan in Round 3 of the JAFC with a 05.30pm throw-in.
It took two late points by Conor Sugrue to separate the same sides in 2011 but let’s hope that we can re-kindle that excellent 2011 form in this up-coming do or die fixture.
Our lads had a morale boosting league victory over Garnish last Sunday.
