THE Cork Famine Group is holding its annual memorial service on Sunday next, July 8th at St Joseph’s Cemetery, cork beginning at 3pm.
Local dignitaries will be in attendance, including the Lord Mayor, local clergy and members of the city and county councils.
The keynote address will be given by local historian and author, Michelle O’Mahony, who has written very extensively about the Great Famine, and Cork affairs in general. There will be the laying of a memorial wreath by the Lord Mayor of cork, some memorial prayers, and a selection of hymns by Cork’s Friendship Singers.
All members of the public are cordially invited to attend, and join in the tribute to all of those very unfortunate people who lived, suffered, and died during this historic time.
An open invitation by the Cork Famine Group is cordially issued to the many people in the County of Cork who are involved in the various Famine Groups, or indeed, any other people from all over, who would like to join us in tribute.
