A WELL-known alternative health author who had lived in Glengarriff has died in a gardening accident.
Sixty-year-old Bodo Baginski who was originally from Germany but who had lived in West Cork for the past 20 years died when the ride-on lawn mower he was using to cut the grass for a neighbour toppled over and crushed him.
The accident happened last Tuesday evening, June 5th.
Mr Baginski had a son and two young daughters and it is understood his body was discovered by his partner following the tragic accident.
Mr Baginski lived in an idyllic location on the shores of Bantry Bay at Ardnatrush and had been a long-time supporter of campaigns to clean up the shoreline of the bay.
Local councillor Mary Hegarty said, “It is really shocking news, he was a quiet, private sort of a person and a really nice person.
“The family are very well liked, Bodo had been living here for a long time and was part of the community. It is very sad, it’s tragic,” she said.
