The meeting will be chaired by local TD Michael McCarthy and panellists will include Jim Daly TD, Declan Walsh, Lecturer in EU Law at UCC, and Phil Prendergast, MEP for Ireland South.
Deputy McCarthy said, “The objective of this meeting is to communicate to local people in a clear and straightforward way what is contained in the Stability Treaty and to answer any questions they might have about it.
“The Government parties are running an intense information campaign on the Treaty and Thursday night’s meeting is a component of this collaborative effort to raise public awareness of the referendum.
“The ratification of the Stability Treaty is one of the most significant decisions that the citizens of our country will make in a generation.
“To this end, we realise the importance of communicating the nuts and bolts of the Treaty so that people can make an informed decision on May 31st. I would encourage people to come along to what promise to be an interesting, insightful and informative evening,” he said.
