AN innovative project aimed at giving exposure to the work of local writers and directors will take place in Schull on June 15th 16th and 17th.

Hosted by the Schull Drama Group (SDG) 10 x 10 will see ten, ten-minute plays chosen from submissions by local writers performed by ten different directors with ten different casts over the three days.

SDG is very keen to support and motivate members to push themselves to experience an area of theatre that they haven’t tried before, whether as director, designer or actor.  Edmund Krugel, Chairman of SDG said: “Even though the idea is not a new one, it is certainly new to Schull. We are delighted to bring this Ten by Ten weekend to Schull.  “It is all about community spirit at its best. You will be able to try your hand at acting, directing, stage management or indeed writing your own script.

“There is so much talent hidden in everyone of us, have a go and enjoy.”

Under the leadership of Karen Minihan, who is facilitating the project, the group has been meeting to read the submitted scripts.

Ten interesting and very different plays have been selected and directors have come forward, casting has taken place and rehearsals are well underway.

During rehearsal, the directors will be offered mentoring sessions in all areas of production, to help them bring their individual productions to the stage.

10 x 10 will take place at Schull Hall on June 15th, 16th and 17th at 8pm.

Tickets €10 (concessions €7).
