A SURVEY just published by the Bandon Enterprise Committee and presented to Bandon Town Council indicates that one third of local businesses are in financial difficulty.
Presenting the report local Labour councillor Gearóid Buckley described the finding that 67 per cent of Bandon businesses are sustainable as “encouraging”.
The report also highlighted that many businesses are well established as nearly 50 per cent have been in operation for more than 10 years.
Only 19 per cent of businesses surveyed had completed some form of market research during the past two years and many had not radically altered their business model since the onset of the recession.
Cllr Buckley commented, “There may be some quick fixes here, but ultimately there is no magic solution and we must engage and work with the business community to bring forward solutions which will secure current businesses and create further employment.
“I recommend everyone with commercial interests to read the full survey”.
