THE Community Games Swimming County Finals were held on Saturday, April 14th in Bishopstown swimming pool.

Bantry were well represented by 24 keen competitors.

There was a great atmosphere with lots of supporters shouting and roaring trying to spur on the Bantry competitors.

And Bantry did itself proud securing seven medals in total.

But the event of the day had to be Una O’Sullivan’s swim for gold.

This was the event with the highest number of contestants, the event was ‘breaststroke under 14s girls’.

There were two heats and competitors included swimmers from some of the top swimming clubs in Cork.

But Una had decisive wins in both the heat and the final securing her gold medal.

She will now go on to represent Cork at the All Ireland community games in Athlone on the weekend of 17-19 August. We wish her every success.

The medal winners of the day were
