Another late loss. Danny North’s 83min goal denied Cork City a valuable point at home.

Maybe if Colin Healy was on the pitch at the time it may not have happened but he was getting a cut covered up on the sideline.

Sligo crossed it into the box and it looked like Dan Murray would just clear it but he miss-kicked the ball and it bounced into the six-yard box where Danny North just had to tip it past McNulty to get the winner.

McNulty had a good game up till then making some valuable saves, but the game wasn’t one sided at all, Davin O’Neill hit the post in the first half and City had a few other chances but could not convert chances to goals.

Next up for City are Shelbourne up in Tolka Park this Friday night.

As Tommy Dunne said after the game, “We have some great memories from last October there, but that means nothing going up there again, they have had a good start to the season and will be a tough game”.

Which is an accurate account of the game on Friday, indeed I would be pleased with a draw just so that we start picking up more points.
