“A Mixed Palette” is the first solo exhibition of Maree O’Sullivan which is on display at the Blue Geranium Cafe, Hosford’s Garden Centre for the month of April.
Maree’s forte is silk painting, she says she loves the effect of paint and its reaction to the silk and the freedom of the paint as it takes on a life of its own once it hits the silk and the colours merge together.
Her work on silk is unique, attractive, full of creativity and life.
As a professional Florist- flowers have shaped Maree’s identity and directed her towards painting large blooms, as she knows her subject in such detail.
Also coming from West Cork and living near the sea, her love of fish is evident in her paintings and their vibrant colours.
Maree predominately paints on silk but also uses mixed media, charcoal and marbling.
She is very involved in the Maclise Art Society in Cork and is the co-ordinator of the Kinsale Arts Week “Walking Gallery” windows.
