BEARA TD Noel Harrington has claimed the highest level of expenses since the Dáil sat in March last year.
He received €53,714.95 in expenses but was quick to point out that his political base in further from Leinster House than any other TD in the country at a distance of nearly 400km.
Travel expenses are worked out on a system of 30km bands in distance from Leinster House and Deputy Harrington is the only TD who lives within band 12 which pays €37,850 a year.
Clonakilty TD Jim Daly was also among the top claimants with € 52,447.09 in expenses while Dunmanway-based Labour TD Michael McCarthy claimed € 42,919.
In Cork North West, Macroom TD Michael Creed claimed € 43,403.01, Fianna Fáil’s Michael Moynihan claimed € 51,808.09 and Aine Collins was also paid € 51,808.09.
