THE investigation into the discovery of a second body in the Bandon River on Tuesday has been officially upgraded to a murder inquiry Gardaí have confirmed.
Gardaí in Bandon met this morning to discuss the results of the post mortem carried out last night on the body of 42-year-old John Forrester.
The remains of Mr Forrester, who was originally from Blackpool in England, were removed from the Bandon River yesterday.
His is believed to have suffered stab wounds to the head and neck.
The body was bound at the hands and feet when it was recovered from the river yesterday and gardaí believe he was killed in his flat at Bridge House, Bandon before being thrown into the River Bandon.
