BUSINESSES in the motor industry across the country are being invited to celebrate their successes and achievements at the 2012 Irish Motor Industry Awards, hosted by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) in association with Castrol Professional.

Following the success of the inaugural awards held in November last year, the second ceremony will be held at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday, February 23rd next.

There are six award categories, with entries invited from car retailers, after sales operations and repair businesses from across the Irish Motor Industry.

The awards are free to enter and the deadline for entries is Friday, December 16th.

Alan Nolan, Director General of the SIMI said, “The Motor Industry is still grappling with the enormous challenges presented by uncertain economic conditions, but dealers have shown that they can adapt to the situation and have yielded some remarkable successes.

“We originally launched the SIMI awards to recognise the achievements of all those who have excelled during what has been an incredibly tough period, and moving the award ceremony to the night of the SIMI Annual Dinner will allow us to engage with even more automotive businesses from across Ireland.”

Entries are invited in the following six categories:

1. Franchised Retail Operation of the Year

2. Franchised Aftersales Operation of the Year

3. Franchised Dealership of the Year

4. Bodyshop of the Year

5. Independent Retailer of the Year

6. Motor Industry Person of the Year
