Keakil did well in this year’s Tidy Towns.

IN just its third year, in the Tidy Towns competition, Kealkill Tidy Towns Association has again made great progress, adding 8 points to last year’s total to bring its tally to 234.

Projects this year have included the funding of benches in and around the village, the introduction of hedgehog boxes to support local wildlife, and the introduction of improved road signage. Meanwhile, the planting committee members have made great efforts to add colour and interest to the whole local area.

“We couldn’t have achieved so much without the work of our very active committee,” said chairperson Tara O’Neill.

“The wider community has been really supportive and helpful too.

“We still have lots of work to do to achieve all the goals the association has set for the village, and if people would like to get involved, they can contact us on 086 303 0991, or find us on Facebook at”
