THE Adult Continuing Department in University College Cork and iPass have agreed to deliver three courses in West Cork this Autumn.
Bantry will play host to the Diploma in Disability Studies and Clonakilty will play host to The Criminal Mind: An Introduction to Forensic and Criminal Psychology and to the Certified Payroll Technician Course.
The Diploma in Disability Studies will run from Wednesday, October 3rd 2012 to April 24th 2013 and again from October 2013 to April 2014.
Students who successfully complete the Certificate year of this programme and who do not wish to proceed to year two may exit the programme with a Certificate in Disability Studies.
The aim of this programme is to enable students to develop a critical awareness of the factors operating in the world of disability, to become aware of the ways in which different issues overlap and to explore ways of working around these.
The Criminal Mind: An Introduction to Forensic and Criminal Psychology is a short 10 week course which will excite anyone from novices to professionals who has a burning interest in violent and criminal behaviour.
The course will consider the criminal mind from a psychological perspective by addressing the various theories presented by criminology and forensic psychology. Participants will gain an understanding and insight into the relationship between psychology and crime by considering the deviant behaviours of child molesters, paedophiles, rapists and murderers.
Each week over the 10 weeks beginning on Tuesday 25 September, the course will consider a different topic.
The Certified Payroll Technician is the leading payroll qualification in Ireland. The course assumes no prior knowledge of payroll matters and it provides students with a comprehensive and practical knowledge of the operation of the PAYE and PRSI systems and a thorough knowledge of Employment Law which has a direct bearing on the operation of the payroll function.
The course is extremely interesting and practical and it provides all of the essential information needed to work in a payroll function.
The qualification will also enhance the student’s career prospects and will undoubtedly bring real benefits and improvements to the workplace. It begins on Monday 10 September.
The three courses are being co-ordinated by Kathryn from West Cork Development Partnership.
