Flooding in Clon. Pic: West Cork Times

CLONAKILTY Town Council is appealing to people who were affected by the flood on the night of 27th-28th June last to write in their recollections of the event and how it impacted on them.

The information that will be compiled will be used to ascertain the sequence of events which lead to the worst flooding of the town ever.

Town Mayor, Cllr Cionnaith Ó Súilleabháin said, “While people are understandably doing their best to move on from the trauma they experienced in having their homes and businesses flooded, I want to appeal to them to take 10-15 minutes to write down their personal recollection of the awful flooding of their individual properties.

“The more details they can provide the better, such as approximate times when they became aware of flooding in their area; what time water entered their property; from what direction; and any other observations they may have from the night in question.

“Any photographs and videos of the flood will also be very much appreciated and important”.

You can email your written account and photos/videos if possible to the Town Clerk, Justin England at justin.england@corkcoco.ie or drop hard copies of same into the Town Council office presently operating at Hume House, Wolfe Tone Street.
