SCHULL & District Community Council will hold a public meeting on Friday, August 3rd next at 8.30pm in Schull Parish Hall.
The meeting has been called in response to the decision by AIB to close two of its branches in Schull and Ballydehob, a decision met with locally with a combination of concern and anger.
Invitations to attend have also been extended to all local TDs and councillors in the Mizen area.
“The move by AIB will greatly affect the economy, investment potential and tourism in the Mizen peninsula.
“The closure of the Schull and Ballydehob AIB branches will mean customers will now have to travel to Skibbereen or Bantry involving a round-trip of up to 90 km for people from the far west of the peninsula,” said a spokesperson.
An online petition opposed to the closures has been set up at www.schullcommunitycouncil.ie.
