FINAL preparations are underway and excitement is mounting ahead of this Saturday’s third annual Munster Ladies Gaelic Football Association 7’s tournament.

The tournament, which is in association with Scally’s Supervalu and the Quality Hotel in Clonakilty, will again be held at the state-of-the-art Clonakilty GAA Complex at Ahamilla for the second successive year.

With 22 teams registered for the senior, junior and intermediate categories, hundreds of talented ladies footballers will descend on the West Cork town, in a bid to capture their respective titles.

There are some mouth-watering clashes in the senior category on the day, with Cork’s Mourneabbey, Rosscarbery and Donoughmore drawn in the same group as reigning Munster champions, Ballymacarbry of Waterford.

Home team Clonakilty have been drawn in the opposing group, along with St Vals and Waterford’s Abbeyside. With a host of intercounty stars involved in almost every registered senior team, all games should be closely fought encounters.

The intermediate section has also thrown up some intriguing games, with 2011 intermediate champions Listowel Emmets determined to defend their title, but will first have to defeat Eire Og of Cork, and Comeragh Rangers of Waterford.

The junior category has the largest entry, with 12 teams participating on the day. North Cork’s Boherbue will be strong contenders, along with Clonakilty’s second panel and Tadhg McCarthaigh.

Registration is at 9.30am sharp, with the first games of the day scheduled to begin at 10.30am. Admission is free, so all are welcome to witness a day of superb footballing talent.
