THE Ahakista Festival & Regatta takes place on the beautiful Sheep’s Head from August 3rd – 7th this year.

There’s a huge amount going on across the Bank Holiday weekend including a guided hill walk on the Sheep’s Head Way; a “Doggy Day Out” celebrating our canine friends with a novelty dog shows and pet advice; road bowling, live music, a quiz night on Arundel’s and much more.

Regatta Day itself is on Sunday, August 5th with coastal gig racing, kayak and swimming races, a floating golf green, car bashing, the infamous raft race, a duck chase, side shows, craft & produce fair and the announcement of the Mayor of Muintir Bhaire.

Organisers promise a recession busting family day out with admission only €3 at the gate (under 4s free) for a man, woman and child with all your kiddie’s entertainment free after that including free access to bouncy castles, face painting, splat the rat, a climbing wall, novelty races, carnival games and obstacle courses.
