A MEMORIAL will be erected in memory of brave Drimoleague teenager Niamh Cadogan who passed away in March from leukaemia.

The 17-year-old Mercy Heights Student was the driving force behind the Young Social Innovators project “Amazing Grace: Improving the Lives of Children with Autism” based in Skibbereen.

Innovative Bandon youngsters win project funding

A GROUP of Young Social Innovators from Coláiste na Toirbhirte in Bandon received €300 in funding yesterday when they pitched their social innovation ideas to business entrepreneurs in the Young Social Innovators (YSI) DEN.

Their project entitled “Homeless not Hopeless” involved creating a resource pack for teachers of CSPE on the topic of homelessness and lobbying the Department of Education to formalise the programme in every school.

TRANSITION Year students from Colaiste na Toirbhirte hope to take shoppers in Bandon’s Riverview Shopping Centre by surprise tomorrow afternoon (Sat) when they stage a “flash mob” to highlight their fundraising efforts for Cork’s Simon Community homelessness charity.
