TWO people aboard a yacht that got into trouble off West Cork today (Wednesday) have been rescued by the Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Frederick Storey Cockburn.

 

The yacht en-route from the Azores to Kinsale has been at sea for 14 days when she got into trouble five miles south of Seven Heads. [Read more...]

The man was taken to Kinsale.

THE single occupant of a small motor yacht had to be rescued by emergency services on Saturday afternoon when the vessel caught fire and sank about two miles off of Seven Heads.

The Courtmac lifeboat towed the yacht to shore.

THE Courtmacsherry Lifeboat was called to attend a yacht that got into trouble off of Seven Heads on Saturday.

A fire broke out on the 35ft vessel and the two crew on board called for assistance.

A YACHT experiencing engine difficulty two miles east of Adam’s Island near Glandore Harbour made a call for assistance as variable wind conditions impeded progress to safety.

THE Courtmacsherry Lifeboat, Frederick Storey Cockburn, was called to assist a yacht which got into trouble south of the Old Head of Kinsale today.

The yacht with two men aboard was about three miles off the West Cork coast when it ran into difficulties at around 3pm.

Missing yacht arrives safe and sound

Port Magee

A MISSING yacht that was expected to arrive in Crookhaven two weeks ago has arrived into Port Magee, Co. Kerry with the two-man crew reported to be safe and well.

An international coastguard and navy search had been underway after the 10-metre Golden Eagle had not been seen since leaving Bermuda, en-route for West Cork on August 21st last.

The yacht finally turned up at 3pm on Sunday as she made her way into Port Magee with her crew, a 60-year-old New Zealander and a 69-year-old man from Norway both safe and well.

Time running out for missing yacht

Search efforts for the Golden Eagle have intensified.

THE search for a missing yacht which left Bermuda for Crookhaven in August has been stepped up amid concerns that the two-man crew will soon run out of supplies if they are not found.

There has been no confirmed sighting or contact with the 10-metre Golden Eagle since it left a stopover in Bermuda on August 21st en-route to Ireland from the US Virgin Islands.

The yacht is crewed by two men, a 60-year-old New Zealander and a 69-year-old from Norway.

Fears for safety of missing yacht

The Shannon-based Coasrguard helicopter is involved in the search.

FEARS are growing for the safety of two people aboard a yacht that was due to arrive in Crosshaven from the US Virgin Islands last Thursday.

There has been no confirmed sighting or contact with the 10-metre Golden Eagle since it left a stopover in Bermuda on August 21st en-route to Ireland.

The yacht is believed to be crewed by two men, a 60-year-old New Zealander and a 69-year-old from Norway.
