WALKING trails along the West Cork coast could be supporting more than 500 jobs and contributing €22 million to the local economy by 2016 according to a new study commissioned by the West Cork Development Partnership (WCDP).
The study, entitled West Cork – Maximising the Benefits of Walking Tourism, will be formally launched at the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff on Wednesday, April 4th next.
It estimates that walking trails and supporting services are currently generating €14 million for the local economy but with relatively modest investment this could increase to €22 million by 2016.
