THIS Sunday sees the first time 17-year-old young hopeful Cameron Cornforth takes on the best in the World at the first round of the UCI Downhill Mountain bike World cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
The Downhill World cup is a series of seven races world-wide, the first of which is in South Africa next weekend, other rounds are in Val di Sol in Italy; Fort William, Scotland; Val Disere, France; Windham, USA; Mt Saint Ann in Canada and Hafjell, Norway.
Downhill is quite simply getting down the hill in as short a time as possible, the problem is its off road on a changing course, usually with big jumps including the 23 metre jumps in South Africa and plenty of roots and mud the catch you out as well.
