A talented head chef having spent the last ten years at Bandon Golf Club, Ger is now looking forward to this new venture and the re-opening of Grainne’s Restaurant in Timoleague.

Lucky escape as mother and young boy’s car skids into Courtmacsherry Bay

A MOTHER and her young son had a narrow escape when their car skidded into the icy waters of Courtmacsherry Bay during the recent bad weather.

 

Luckily the car was travelling at very low speed at the time of the skid which happened on the road between Courtmac and Timoleague.

Water supply disruption – Clonakilty, Rosscabery, Barryroe

CORK County Council have issued two separate water notices regarding disruption to suppky in the wider Clonakilty area.

 

There is a disruption today in Clonakilty and a water off notice for tomorrow on the Barryroe Group Water Scheme.

Water Disruption in Clonakilty Area

 

There is a burst on the major trunk main feeding areas south and west of Clonakilty 31/10/12 as far as Rosscarbery and north as far as Ballinscarty.

As a result of the burst water pressures are very poor in the western part of the network.

Consumers are requested to conserve water to minimise the impact of the burst main.

Burst Water main Barryroe Group Water Scheme

 

 

Cork County Council plans to carry out essential works on an eight-inch burst on a water main on the Barryroe Group Water Scheme.

The Council wishes to advise customers in the Grange, Lislevane, Curraheen and Courtmacsherry areas that water supply will be disrupted tomorrow, Thursday November 1st 2012 between 9am and 5pm.

This disruption is necessary to facilitate works on the existing water main.

 

 

Cork County Council is working to restore the water supply and regrets any inconvenience caused.

Huge crowds in Courtmac for the All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships

15,000 visitors attended the event.

AN estimated 15,000 people thronged Courtmacsherry and Timoleague over the weekend for the All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships which took place in Broadstrand Bay.

 

 

It turned out to be a very successful event for rowing clubs from across West Cork too with GalleyFlash taking the senior men’s title and Myross taking the best adult crew accolade.

Thousands expected in Courtmac for All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships

Up to 10,000 people are expected in Courtmac.

UP to 10,000 people are expected to attend the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships being held in Courtmacsherry’s Broadstrand Bay this weekend.

 

 

More than 2,000 rowers from across the country will take part including a strong West Cork contingent.

“A Touch of Class” will take place in Timoleague on Friday, August 17th next during the Timoleague Harvest Festival.

The event is described as an evening of style, beauty, fitness and health followed by live music.

Government to investigate poor Saorview signal in West Cork

THE Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources under Minister Pat Rabbitte is to investigate the availability of the new national digital TV service Saorview in parts of rural West Cork.

Concerns have been raised that the area between Dunmanway and Rosscarbery in particular suffers from very poor reception due to the large number of hills and valleys.

First swallows of the year spotted in West Cork

ONE swallow may not make a summer, but perhaps three do especially when they were all spotted in West Cork in the last few days.

The arrival of the migratory birds from southern Africa traditionally heralds the beginning of warmer weather and the arrival of spring and if the swallows are anything to go by West Cork looks set to greet spring soon.

Black ice warning

MOTORISTS are being urged to take extra care on West Cork roads tonight as temperatures are set to plummet below zero once again.

AA Roadwatch is reporting black ice on the N71 between Bandon and Clonakilty and also on the R600 between Clonakilty and Timoleague.
