Car market remains fragile with new car sales down 14 per cent on last year

NEW car sales fell 42 per cent in June to 6,370 units (down from 11,007 in June ’11)

New scheme launched to raise the standards of car servicing in Ireland

THE Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has launched SIMI Autosure Professional Register (SIMI APR), a new scheme to professionalize car servicing in Ireland.

Call for changes to registration plates

THE motor trade’s representative body the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) is calling for a change to the current registration plate as part of its 2012 Budget submission to the Government.

According to SIM President Gerry Caffrey the current registration plate system causes serious problems in relation to the seasonality of car sales.

“Nearly 50 per cent of new cars are sold in the first quarter of the year, which puts huge pressure on resources, from staff to cash flow.

2012 Irish Motor Industry Awards are open for entries

BUSINESSES in the motor industry across the country are being invited to celebrate their successes and achievements at the 2012 Irish Motor Industry Awards, hosted by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) in association with Castrol Professional.

Following the success of the inaugural awards held in November last year, the second ceremony will be held at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday, February 23^rd next.
