Five missing as boat sinks off Glandore Harbour

UPDATED FIVE crew members are unaccounted for following the sinking of a fishing trawler close to the entrance to Glandore Harbour in the early hours of this morning.

The Tit Bonhomme, a locally owned 70ft, twin-rigged stern trawler called the Coastguard for assistance at 5.53am but  contact was lost during the SOS call.

West Cork Times understands the vessel which was built in France 1988 ran aground at the Adam and Eve islands, a series of rocky outcrops just off the entrance to Glandore Harbour in gale-force conditions and may have lost power. [Read more...]
