IT’S is the season for smoked salmon, whether as a classic starter, canapés, part of a seafood platter or even used in scrambled egg for breakfast.

Another way to serve it is cooked in cheesy potatoes as a wet-day warmer. It works fabulously as an easy, one pot dish when out sailing if you have a galley.

Seafood investment to create West Cork jobs

Castletownbere will see almost €2m in investment.

WEST Cork is set to benefit from €15.5 million of new investment I the seafood sector announced by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney.

The investment by the Irish seafood processing companies is supported by grants of €3.2 million under the EU co-funded Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme.

Public consultation on “Our Ocean Wealth”

MARINE Minister Simon Coveney has launched a public consultation process on how to harness the potential of Ireland’s vast marine resource to tap into a Trillion Euro global market for marine products and services (including seafood, tourism, shipping, oil and gas, renewable ocean energy and new applications for health, medicine and technology).

Launching the public consultation “Our Ocean Wealth”, Minister Coveney said that Ireland needs to change the way we think about the sea and look for new opportunities to harness the potential of our 220 million acre marine resource.
