A GREAT day was enjoyed by the pupils of Ballinacarriga National School near Dunmanway recently as Research and Innovation Minister Seán Sherlock, accompanied by local TD Michael McCarthy officially opened the school’s new extension.

The event was attended by current pupils at the school as well as parents, teachers and local people who had attended the school down through the years.

The children enjoyed a fun magic show as part of the celebrations and visitors were treated to music and refreshments on the day.

Ronan and the Rose special guests at revamped Newbridge Silverware store

LOCAL rugby hero Ronan O’Gara and 2011 Rose of Tralee, Tara Talbot were on hand to officially launch the newly revamped Newbridge Silverware Store, on Cork’s Oliver Plunkett Street today.

They both signed autographs and chatted with customers at the store whose new look was inspired by the Art Deco era.

The store was originally open five years ago by well-known Cork businessman Finbarr Cotter.

Since its inception, the Newbridge Silverware Store in Cork has secured an ever-growing loyal customer base.

Coppeen National School extension opened

THE long-awaited extension to Coppeen National School will be officially opened today (Monday, October 17th) by Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney.

The 78-pupil school has served the local community since the 19th century and has been awaiting the completion of the extension since plans were first put in place in 2007.
