THE U16 footballers were on top from the start against Drimoleague in an away league game last Thursday evening.

 

Despite squandering an amount of chances, Skibb ran out winners 4-9 to 2-7 with goals from Dillon Hourihane, Joe Lynch, Brian Crowley and Jack Cowap and recorded their fourth successive league win.

O’Donovan Rossa underage notes

SKIBB U14s played Barryroe in the league at home last Thursday evening and gave another fine team performance with some very good passages of passing football.

 

Playing into a gale in the first half Skibb still managed to lead at half time 5-7 to 2-4 with four goals from Eoghan O’Connell and one from Rory Byrne.

Donna Burke & Mary Ann McCarthy Two Oar Challenge Silver medallists Ladies

THE  build up to the 2013 rowing season continues to ramp up for the members of the GalleyFlash.

 

The second GalleyFlash Two Oar Challenge was held on Sunday May 5th, teams from across West Cork and further afield competed for the title of Two Oar Champion 2013.

In the end it was the home team of John Harrington and Dave McCarthy coxed by Julie Harrington who emerged victorious in the men’s event. While the top Galley team in Ladies event were Donna Burke and Mary Ann McCarthy with cox Julie who finished second to a very strong Kilmacsimon team.

U12 FB Croke Park 030413Kilmeen U12 Footballers travel to Croke Park

 

Recently, the Kilmeen U12 footballers travelled to Croke Park to take part in a Munster Football Blitz. On the day these young stars played Cromane (Kerry), Foilmore (Kerry) and Cooraclare (Clare).

 

They performed exceptionally well and won two of their three matches comprehensively. They then went on a tour of the stadium and museum. This well-organised event was hugely successful for the children, parents and mentors involved. Thanks to Pauric Reilly for all his work with these players over the past number of years.

Clon to wrap up season with a party

A historic season in many ways draws to a close as the underage celebrate and the senior section regroup. In line with the determination to bounce back from the recent setback the season will not end on a low note, rather it will go out with a bang celebrating all the qualities and achievements of which Clonakilty can be justifiably proud.

 

The club is holding a Barbecue and Social Night in The Vale on this Saturday night May 11th to mark 35 great seasons of Clonakilty Rugby. The club is also delighted to announce that guest of honour for the evening is Munster and Ireland rugby player, Grand Slam winner Laura Guest. Festivities kick off at 9.00pm.

THE under 14 footballers played neighbours Ilen Rovers in a very competitive league match in Rath last Thursday evening.

 

Playing with a strong breeze in the first half Skibb led at half time by four points but it proved insufficient as Ilen dominated the second half and ran out winners on a score of 5-8 to 2-9.

O’Donovan Rossa Underage GAA notes

The U13s played Kilmeen in the first round of the West Cork championship on Monday evening in Castlehaven.

 

Kilmeen started well with two goals inside the first five minutes. O’Donovan Rossa  played very well with some very good individual performances  and dominated possession for periods in the game.

 

However their failure to convert their scoring opportunities in the first half was the deciding factor in the end with Kilmeen winning 8-8 to 2-2.

Last Saturday the club hosted an U10 blitz.  On a beautiful morning ten clubs participated and the Marsh pitches were awash with colour and excitement; the youngsters’ faces clearly relaying their enjoyment with the spectacle which was a credit to the organisers, coaches and referees.

St Colums Ladies underage notes

St Colums U14 ladies football team had their third game of the season last Saturday [20th April] away to Glen Na Gael.

Despite a valiant effort by our ladies team they were out played by a very strong Gen Na Gael side.
