THE Health Service Executive have confirmed that West Cork will retain four ambulances as services across the region are transferred from an “on-call” to fully rostered “on-duty” system.

 

The confirmation came today (Monday) from Fine Gael TD Noel Harrington who said that the HSE had confirmed that four emergency ambulances would be retained in West Cork as well as an Advanced Paramedic Transport and a non-emergency routine transfer ambulance both to be based in Bantry.

Harrington welcomes announcement of two new national school building projects in Kinsale

FINE Gael TD for Cork South West, Noel Harrington, has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Education, Ruairí Quinn, that two new National School building projects, St. Joseph’s and St. John’s, will take place in Kinsale in 2013.

 

This announcement is part of a national school building plan that will see the construction of 35 new schools and 15 schools receiving extensions in 2013.

More than €700,000 in funding for West Cork sports projects

SPORTS capital projects in West Cork have been allocated more than €700,000 in the latest round of capital funding just announced.

West Cork has secured almost a quarter of the government’s sports capital allocation for Cork, with €747,500 from a total of €3.1 million being allocated to the west of the county.

Harrington welcomes Single Farm Payments

FINE Gael West Cork TD Noel Harrington has welcomed the advance payment of €21,301,474.60 to farmers in Cork as part of the Single Farm Payment (SFP) scheme. The payments have been brought forward from December to October following representations made by Minister Coveney to the EU Commission on the basis of the difficulties being faced by farmers as a result of the poor summer weather.
