CORK County Council has approved a total of 104 grants for arts organisations, artists and schools from a fund of €150,250 for 2012.
County Mayor Tim Lombard said that even in these difficult times it was “heartening that Cork County Council is in a position to provide substantial assistance to support to a wide range of arts and cultural activity throughout the county”.
Arts Grants with a value of over € 1,500 will be provided to numerous voluntary arts groups throughout the county and several groups working with marginalised sections of society such as the elderly, those with special needs and young people will also receive funding.
