Bandon to honour Graham Norton during Rebel Week 2013

BANDON Town Council has approved a proposal to name a picturesque riverside walkway the Graham Norton River Walkway to honour the comedian and famous talk show host.

 

The proposal was made by the Bandon Rebel Week committee as part of the Cork flagship Gathering event, which will run from October 14th-20th.

Graham not over the moon about the statue idea

graham-nortonfpPLANS to erect a statue in honour of TV star Graham Norton in his hometown of Bandon have been described as a ‘waste of money’ by the man himself.

 

The plan was to commission a West Cork artist to design and build the statue, which would then be unveiled by Mr. Norton in Bandon as part of the Cork Rebel Week celebrations in October.

 

However, it appears that Mr. Norton is not in favour of the idea and said ‘I must write to them and beg them not to. It’s such a waste of money and it would look hideous.’

BANDON’S most famous son Graham Norton celebrated his 50th birthday by beginning the thirteenth series of his hot BBC chat show with superstar Tom Cruise who was in London promoting his new movie Oblivion.

 

On hearing that he had just turned 50, Cruise surprised the Bandon man with a surprise birthday gift of a Mexican Mariachi band who played Happy Birthday for the West Cork star.

Graham raises £1 million with record-breaking chat show

BANDON man Graham Norton raised an incredible £1 million for the Comic Relief charity thanks to his record-breaking marathon chat show which ran for six hours on BBC3 recently.

 

Graham set a new world record in the process by asking 175 questions in a single show, the most ever, as dozens of guests joined him in the studio.

The West Cork star was unable to accept the award in person at a star-studded ceremony in London as he was in Baku, Azerbaijan presenting the BBC’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Hundreds turn out as Graham Norton opens extension at old school

UP to 400 well wishers turned out to welcome Bandon’s most famous son, TV superstar Graham Norton who was on a short visit home to open the new extension at his old school, Bandon Grammar.

Mr Norton who spends several weeks every year in West Cork at his holiday home in Ahakista was on a flying visit this time and was due to return to London later today.
