THE intensive search for two missing fishermen in Glandore Harbour will resume tomorrow (Sunday).

More than 300 people took part in extensive searching today in the hope of finding the bodies of missing Tit Bonhomme skipper Michael Hayes (52) and crewmember Saied Aly Eldin (24).

They are the only two members of the six-man crew of the Tit Bonhomme that sank on January 15th near Adam’s Island that remain unaccounted for.

MORE than 200 people will be involved in the most thorough search yet in Glandore Harbour over the weekend as efforts continue to recover the bodies of the two missing fishermen from the Tit Bonhomme, skipper Michael Hayes (52) and crewman Saied Aly Eldin (24).

Garda and Navy divers will be joined by volunteers from as far away as Dundalk and Galway working in teams to search the seabed in Glandore Harbour.

Civil Defence, Coastguard personnel and local volunteers numbering in the hundreds will also continue the search of the surrounding area.

Coastguard “overwhelmed” by response to request for help

OFFICIALS organising the ongoing search for the two missing crewmen of the Tit Bonhomme say they have been overwhelmed by offers of help from divers.

Two crewmembers, skipper Michael Hayes (52) and crewman Saied Ali Eldin (24) are still missing presumed drowned following the sinking of the vessel in stromy seas at the entrance to Glandore Harbour on Sunday, January 15th last.

Caitlin Ní Aodha, the wife of Mr Hayes, appealed for any divers who could, to help in the search this weekend as conditions are predicited to be the best for seaching since the trawler sank almost two weeks ago.

THE WIFE of missing skipper Michael Hayes has issued an appeal for experienced divers to join the search effort at Glandore Harbour this weekend.

Caitlin Ni Aodha appealed to diving clubs around the country to make the most of favourable weather conditions in a bid to recover her 52-year-old husband and Egyptian crewman Saied Ali Eldine (24.)

“We feel that because it’s a harbour, a contained space, the more divers and ribs we have out searching the better the chances of finding them,” she said.

THE father of Kevin Kershaw, the youngest crewmember of the Tit Bonhomme described his son as “second to none, top of the range,” at his funeral mass.

Patrick Kershaw said he was proud to be Kevin’s father and thanked those working as part of the search operation that brought his son home.

HUNDREDS are expected to attend the funeral of Kevin Kershaw, the youngest victim of the Tit Bonhomme tragedy, in Clonakilty today.

The funeral service for the 21-year-old who was on his first fishing voyage when the trawler sank at the mouth of Glandore Harbour on Sunday, January 15th takes place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clonakilty at noon today.

THE search for the two missing crewmembers of the ill-fayed Tit Bonhomme enters its 10th day today with recovery teams turning their attention to the coast and the surface of the sea.

The ninth day of searching yesterday revealed no trace of missing skipper Michael Hayes (52) and Egyptian crewman Saied Ali Eldine (24) but as time passes there is an increasing possibility that their bodies may come to the surface of the water either today or tomorrow.

EXTENSIVE sea and land searches will resume at first light tomorrow (TUES) for two remaining crewmembers missing since the sinking of the Tit Bonhomme.

The ninth day of searching revealed no trace of missing skipper Michael Hayes (52) and Egyptian crewman Saied Ali Eldine (24)

Sixty Civil Defence crews were joined today by a specialist volunteer crew of thirty off duty gardai from three separate divisions, Cork north, Cork city and Cork northwest.

A TEAM of West Cork divers have told of how they discovered the third body yesterday from the sunken trawler Tit Bonhomme.

The body of father of two Wael Mohammed (35), from Rossetta in Egypt was found just before 10am yesterday morning by a West Cork based volunteer dive crew.

Third body recovered in Glandore search

UPDATED- A THIRD body has been recovered in the search for the three fishermen who were still missing after the trawler Tit Bonhomme sank at the entrance to Glandore Harbour a week ago today.

The body is understood to be that of one of the remaining two Egyptian crewmembers, 32-year-old Wael Mohamad (32) from Rosetta near Alexandria.

He is the younger brother of the only survivor of the tragedy, 40-year-old father of three, Abdou Mohamad.
