TD apologises after gardaí called to remove respite cut protestor

Michael McCarthy apologised.

WEST Cork TD Michael McCarthy (Lab) has apologised to a protester after the Gardaí were called to his offices in Dunmanway last week.

 

The Gardaí responded to a call from Deputy Michael McCarthy’s constituency office after a woman attempted to take a photograph outside while protesting against the recent budget cuts to the carers respite grant.

West Cork carer is runner-up in national poetry competition

GAIA Charis from Castletownshend has been named runner up in the Family Carers’ second annual Caring for Carers Ireland poetry competition, the winners of which were announced at the Ennis Book Club Festival in County Clare during the weekend.

The nationwide poetry competition asked Family Carers to compose poems on the theme of springtime, representing renewal and new life.
