ENVIRONMENT Minister Phil Hogan has confirmed that €90 million funding is being released for the Leader elements of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.

HARBOURS across West Cork are set to benefit from more than €2,5 million in funding announced by the Department of Transport.

 

The €2,632,000 in funding which is being made available for the maintenance and upgrade of a number of Cork harbours, as part of the agreement which sees the ownership of such transferred to local authorities.

CORK County roads are set to benefit from €40 million under the 2013 local and regional roads fund, which has been announced by the Department of Transport, but the future is rough for West Cork roads, warns Dunmanway-based independent councillor Declan Hurley.

 

According to Cllr Hurley the allocation received for regional and local roads for 2013 is almost €46.5m and will be spent on the completion of specific projects and on routine improvements and restoration works, but this he says still falls “a long way short” of addressing the real scale of the disastrous road conditions around the county.

€75,000 awarded for West Cork community schemes

CORK County Council has awarded more than €75,000 to 55 community and voluntary groups throughout the West Cork area as part of its Amenity Grant Scheme 2012.

 

The grants range from €122 to €4,300 and assist funding groups such have been given to a variety of groups including Tidy Towns Committees, Resident Associations, GAA Clubs, Community Councils, Youth Clubs, Development Associations and many sporting organisations.

A €200,000 grant is to be awarded to Ballineen and Enniskeane Development Association for the upgrade of a community and recreation area under the Rural Development Programme.

 

The entire project which will cost €267,000 will include the creation of a multi-sport court, children’s playground, adult fitness zone and upgraded parking facilities, at Ballineen/Enniskeane. [Read more...]

West Cork to benefit from €40 million road funding for Co. Cork

TOWNS across West Cork are set to benefit from the €40 million road funding allocation for County Cork just announced for local and regional road works in 2013.

 

Among the projects to get fundung is the Dunmanway Relief Road project which recieves €125,000; while Kinsale and Clonakilty Town Councils each receive €161,000 and Skibbereen Town Council gets €115,000.
