A MACROOM town councillor has admitted in court that he fraudulently claimed expenses for attending a conference in Galway that he did not attend.
Councillor Pat Melia (51) with an address at Ard na Gréine, Macroom was fined €500 by Judge James McNulty at Macroom District Court.

Noel Harrington - "Received assurances"
BEARA TD Noel Harrington has claimed the highest level of expenses since the Dáil sat in March last year.
He received €53,714.95 in expenses but was quick to point out that his political base in further from Leinster House than any other TD in the country at a distance of nearly 400km.
Ivor Callely
FORMER Fianna Fáil TD and senator Ivor Callely has been arrested by gardaí from the fraud squad in connection with allegations relating to alleged false invoices for mobile phone expenses.
He was arrested in Dublin and taken to Irishtown Garda Station where he is being held under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.
