Get on your bike for the West Cork emergency services charity cycle

IMG_8852THIS year marks the 10th anniversary West Cork emergency services charity cycle that to date has raised more than €330,000 for various charities.

 

This year’s cycle takes place on Saturday, July 13th and will begin as usual at Skibbereen Fire Station and will then head towards Bantry for its first official stop.

 

On leaving Bantry cyclists will travel to Durrus and enjoy the breathtaking views of Dunmanus Bay before heading up over Mount Gabriel and on to Schull for the second stop.

Carrigboy National School raise the flag

IMG_1578IN beautiful sunshine Carrigboy National School Durrus had the official raising of their Active School Flag recently.

 

This was performed by five time All-Ireland medal winner Rhona Ní Bhuachalla. Rhona also had the Brendan Martin cup with her which was very popular with all the classes.

THE children at Carrigboy National School, Durrus, had a nice surprise recently when their new playground was installed.

 

They are having great fun on the double seesaw, crazy daisy and playhouse and all classes are really enjoying the new equipment which is all surrounded by soft surface for the children’s safety. [Read more...]

Durrus 5 is almost here – bakers needed

THE “Durrus 5” is a five-mile road race / walk which will be held in Durrus on Saturday, September 8th next.

The race / walk is a fundraising event, with all monies raised going directly towards the development of a safe running / walking path in Durrus in the new GAA grounds for the people of Muintir Bhaire.

Meet the new Mayor of Muintir Bhaire


A delighted John Ross is pictured giving his acceptance speech at the Ahakista Regatta.

JOHN Ross from Durrus has been elected as the new Mayor of Muintir Bhaire Parish in the competition run by Muintir Bhaire Foroige Club.

John was one of 27 individuals who were nominated to become mayor with 10 of them out in the lead early into the count. [Read more...]
