Windings release new album I Am Not The Crow

“I’ve hated most things at least once, so maybe now’s the time for some fresh devilry”

From the opening strains of an ancient Canadian harmonium on ‘Sun in my Bones’, the new windings’s record I Am Not The Crow reveals itself as an album full of scope, dynamic musicianship and imagination.

 

As the eight tracks play out, it also reveals itself as an album in the most meaningful sense of the word – a collection of songs united by a common purpose, each lending itself to the next, adding to the entirety. It’s this notion of what an album should sound like that binds I Am Not The Crow so well.

Gig Review – MAKO at DeBarra’s

Like a phoenix, MAKO have risen from the ashes of two of Ireland’s great rock bands. Their music has evolved from their constituent parts, while keeping the best bits of what they used to be. The result is electrifying, as anyone who caught them in De Barras’ Sitting Room last week will testify.

Spearheaded by three-fifths of Cyclefly and backed by two-fifths of Rulers of the Planet, (but one Cycefly member short on the night) the band has an impressive pedigree. Cyclefly being arguably the most popular band to have come out of Cork in the last decade, and Rulers of the Planet don’t sit far behind. MAKO’s ancestry promises a lot. And luckily, they deliver.

Mick Flannery for DeBarra’s Arthur’s Day

DEBARRA’S in Clonakilty have confirmed that Mick Flannery will top the bill for their Arthur’s Day line up on Thursday, September 22nd.

The popular Cork singer will take to the stage for a free gig and doors open at 5.30pm.

Entry is strictly on a first come, first served basis and DeBarra’s promise a lots more music on the night.
