Ballyvourney pub prosecuted for breaching smoking ban legislation

THE HSE has confirmed a conviction and awarding of costs against a licensed premises in Ballyvourney, Co Cork as a result of a breach of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act.

At a sitting of Macroom District Court on June 20th, a case taken by HSE South’s Environmental Health Department against An Mhuileann Teoranta trading as the Mills Inn, Ballyvourney became the most recent successful prosecution in the Cork area since the introduction of the legislation. Councillor withdraws appeal against assault conviction

ADRIGOLE-based Fianna Fáil councillor Danny Crowley and his brother Michael Crowley have withdrawn their appeal against assault convictions made against them in May.

The two brothers were convicted of assaulting John Hanley at the Sugar Loaf Bar, Trafrask, and also of threatening and abusive behaviour arising from an incident on March 5th last.

Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin was told that the brothers were withdrawing the appeal at Clonakilty Circuit Court.
