THE countdown to Christmas has started and to remind us of the wonder of the Season, and get everyone in the festive spirit, Timoleague is set to host a very special night of Christmas Music and Carols on Thursday the 5th December, in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.
Rebecca Storm, Ireland’s leading lady of musical theatre, the acclaimed star of Blood Brothers, Evita and Les Miserables, will make her West Cork debut with a New Year’s Eve concert in Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa on Tuesday 31 December at 8pm.
Accompanied by a full band, Rebecca will perform musical theatre classics and personal favourites. An Intimate Evening with Rebecca Storm will include songs from her leading roles in Evita, Les Miserables, Annie, and her anthem tune, ‘Tell Me It’s Not True’ from Blood Brothers.
A warm welcome is extended to all the people of West Cork to come and join us in Clonakilty Parish Church on Friday 15th November at 8pm to celebrate the Year of Faith with the teenagers from the local parishes as they gather to sing their songs of faith and celebration.
THERE were songs from the musicals, Strauss, Prayers of Thanksgiving, and Vienna; Irish music and song and Italian opera for the St Michael’s thanksgiving concert in church Rathbarry.
The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and lighted candles for what proved to be an exciting and emotional experience.
Clonakilty Parish Church in Association with Clonakilty 400 Celebrations is set to host a magical musical evening in a candlelit setting on Thursday 21st, November, 2013 at 8pm.

There exists in West Cork a deep-rooted musical tradition, though one not usually classically expressed. American concert pianist, David Syme, is changing this by introducing a classical note to proceedings – and all from the comfort of his living room on the Beara Peninsula.
A graduate of the Julliard School of Music, New York, and protégé of Jorge Bolet, David is exceptionally accomplished and has performed at numerous prestigious venues: Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Centre, and the Kennedy Centre in the U.S. and many throughout Europe, particularly in the Czech Republic. Clonakilty based composer and violinist Justin Grounds is bringing together his many musical friends and colleagues for a unique program of works from the baroque to the modern.
The line-up includes Clonakilty Junior Brass Band; Glaslinn Ladies’ Choir; vocalists Fiona Kelleher and Paula Kingston O’Brien; Trad piano player Hannah Collins and past and present students of the Gaelscoil. Táille isteach €10.
