Search continues in Glandore Harbour

MORE than 200 people will be involved in the most thorough search yet in Glandore Harbour over the weekend as efforts continue to recover the bodies of the two missing fishermen from the Tit Bonhomme, skipper Michael Hayes (52) and crewman Saied Aly Eldin (24).

Garda and Navy divers will be joined by volunteers from as far away as Dundalk and Galway working in teams to search the seabed in Glandore Harbour.

Civil Defence, Coastguard personnel and local volunteers numbering in the hundreds will also continue the search of the surrounding area.

Coastguard “overwhelmed” by response to request for help

OFFICIALS organising the ongoing search for the two missing crewmen of the Tit Bonhomme say they have been overwhelmed by offers of help from divers.

Two crewmembers, skipper Michael Hayes (52) and crewman Saied Ali Eldin (24) are still missing presumed drowned following the sinking of the vessel in stromy seas at the entrance to Glandore Harbour on Sunday, January 15th last.

Caitlin Ní Aodha, the wife of Mr Hayes, appealed for any divers who could, to help in the search this weekend as conditions are predicited to be the best for seaching since the trawler sank almost two weeks ago.

“We are not giving up” – wife’s plea for help to find missing husband

THE WIFE of missing skipper Michael Hayes has issued an appeal for experienced divers to join the search effort at Glandore Harbour this weekend.

Caitlin Ni Aodha appealed to diving clubs around the country to make the most of favourable weather conditions in a bid to recover her 52-year-old husband and Egyptian crewman Saied Ali Eldine (24.)

“We feel that because it’s a harbour, a contained space, the more divers and ribs we have out searching the better the chances of finding them,” she said.
