Lack of action on commercial rates shows contempt for small business

At a time when we should be rebuilding the domestic economy, the Government has increased VAT to 23%, the fifth highest rate in the European Union.

 

Small family businesses and retailers, which the Government promised to support by amending commercial rates, are on their knees. Nothing has been done and the opportunity has been wasted.

Bandon business survey shows 67 per cent of businesses “stable”

A SURVEY just published by the Bandon Enterprise Committee and presented to Bandon Town Council indicates that one third of local businesses are in financial difficulty.

Presenting the report local Labour councillor Gearóid Buckley described the finding that 67 per cent of Bandon businesses are sustainable as “encouraging”.

SPECSAVERS Bandon, located in the Riverview Shopping Centre celebrated its first birthday this week with an in-store family fun day, where customers were invited to join in the festivities as the staff cut the store’s first birthday cake kicking off the celebrations.

Customers were also treated to plenty of in-store competitions and promotions on the day.
