Mizen bank closures will have “major consequences” – renewed call for a halt to closures

THE closure of two AIB bank branches in the Mizen Head peninsula is a huge blow to the people of West Cork and there will be major consequences for the area, according to Fianna Fáil Senator Denis O’Donovan who is calling on the bank to reconsider its decision.

Public meeting on AIB closures

SCHULL & District Community Council will hold a public meeting on Friday, August 3^rd next at 8.30pm in Schull Parish Hall.

The meeting has been called in response to the decision by AIB to close two of its branches in Schull and Ballydehob, a decision met with locally with a combination of concern and anger. [Read more...]

West Cork to lose three AIB branches

AIB bank will close three of its branches in West Cork by the end of next year as part of a nationwide cost-cutting exercise.

Macroom students win AIB All Ireland challenge

SIX Transition Year students from St Mary’s Secondary School in Macroom have scooped a €10,000 prize for the school and an Apple i-Pad 2 each after winning the All Ireland Final of the AIB Build A Bank Challenge 2012.

The team made up of Sharon McSweeney, Caroline Kehoe, Chelsea Cunningham, Tracey Cronin, Lucy Kelleher and Orna Hinchion along with their teacher Arlene O Donoghue and Student Officer Grace O’Sullivan travelled to the RDS in Dublin to compete in the final.
