Work on the scheme was suspended in October.

AT a recent meeting of Bandon Town Council, personnel from Cork County Council and Byrne Looby Consultants explained that there is currently a tendering process underway for consultants to carry out a further site investigation during the summer months for the Bandon main drainage works programme.

 

Works on stage 2 of the scheme were suspeneded last October “due to events beyond the control” of Cork County Council.

BANDON Town Council recently unanimously supported a Sinn Fein motion calling on the government to repeal the legislation which gives effect to the property tax.

 

Cllr Rachel McCarthy who brought forward the motion said, “I am delighted that my fellow councillors from all political parties supported my motion tonight.

Pay parking to continue in Bandon during works “a poor decision”

CORK County Council decided this week to go against the wishes of Bandon Town Council and voted against the suspension of pay parking for the duration of the sewerage upgrade works in Bandon.

 

 

Reacting to the decision local councillor Rachel McCarthy (SF) said, “I feel the vote taken by the County Council this week led by the Fine Gael members undermines the legitimate mandate of the members of Bandon Town Council.

Bandon Mayor seeks suspension of pay-parking during works

HAVING recently being elected to the National Executive of Fianna Fáil, Cllr Gillian Coughlan was elected Mayor of Bandon at the local Council’s AGM recently.

Bandon Town Council calls for full public review of fluoridation of Irish water

MEMBERS of Bandon Town Council have passed a motion calling on Minister for Health Dr James O’Reilly to review the fluoridation of Irish water.

The move follows a presentation given to the council at its the April meeting by environmental scientist Declan Waugh.

Water fluoridation presentation at Bandon Town Council

A MOTION at Bandon Town Council inviting water fluoride expert Declan Waugh to attend the May Town Council Meeting was passed at the April meeting.

Declan Waugh will present the findings of his recent report titled “Human Toxicity, Environmental Impact and Legal Implications of Water Fluoridation” at the meeting on Tuesday, May 8th next.

Sinn Féin to protest household charge in Bandon

SINN Féin members will hold a demonstration in Bandon this weekend in opposition to the €100 household charge.

Bandon Town Councillor Rachel McCarthy called on the Government to end what she described as “their scaremongering and bullyboy tactics” on the household charge.
