CLONAKILTY-based Fine Gael TD Jim Daly has launched a scathing attack on West Cork SOS ambulance protesters who are planning a four-day bed push to Cork University Hospital starting on Wednesday.
Deputy Daly described as “reckless and opportunistic” plans for the bed push from Skibbereen to Cork to protest against planned changes to ambulance services in West Cork.

IN order to highlight ongoing concerns about the future of ambulance services in West Cork, the Save Our Service (SOS) campaign have announced details of a stretcher push from Skibbereen to Cork University Hospital (CUH) to take place from Wednesday, October 17th to Saturday, October 20th next. THE lashing December rain couldn’t deter members from the West Cork SOS campaign who embarked on a two-day “stretcher push” today from Skibbereen to Bantry.
The group are pushing a symbolic stretcher complete with blue flashing light between the two towns to raise awareness of the ongoing campaign against proposed changes to ambulance services in West Cork.

FOLLOWING on from September’s public meeting which was attended by more than 700 people at the West Cork Hotel, Skibbereen, the West Cork SOS campaign has been officially launched.
The aim of the campaign is to retain the four ambulances currently based in West Cork at nighttime in Castletownbere, Skibbereen, Bantry and Clonakilty.

A HUGE crowd of 700 people turned out at the West Cork Hotel on Friday night for a special public meeting organised by Skibbereen Town Council in opposition to proposed changes to ambulance services in West Cork.
Among those attending the packed meeting were local TDs Michael McCarthy and Noel Harrington as well as numerous local councillors.
